Short essay on republic day
We are gathered to celebrate the 72nd republic day of our country India. republic day is one of our national festivals.
Today’s day is very precious in Indian history because on 26th January 1950 the constitution of India came into effect.

As we all know that India was a colony of the British Empire after independence on 15th August 1952 to be didn’t have a constitution.
So on 29th August 1947 drafting committee was appointed for the drafting of a permanent Indian constitution, the chairman of this committee was Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar.
After drafting the constitution 26th January was chosen to apply it because on that day in 1920 the Indian National Congress declared Purna Swaraj as opposed to British rule.
In this way, the Indian constitution came into force on 26th January 1950.
