Once there was a slave. His master was very cruel. He made the slave work hard but did not feed him well.
The slave was so tired of him that he ran away from his house. The master followed him. He hid in a cave. The master could not find him and go away.
There was a lion in the cave. The slave was so frightened that he could not run away. He closed his eyes and sat down. But he was surprised to find that the lion did not attack him. Instead, it held out its paw.
The slave noticed that there was a thorn in the lion’s paw. He gathered his courage and drew out the thorn. The lion was thankful to him and they became friends.
After a few days, he went out of the cave and was caught by the servants of his master. He was brought to the master. The king of that country sentenced him to death.
He ordered to throw it before a hungry lion. When he was thrown into the cage, the hungry lion sprang upon him. But it stopped at once. It did not harm him.
It began to lick his hands. The slave recognized his lion friend and embraced it. The king and the people were surprised to see all this. The slave told them how he had helped the lion.
The king ordered that both the slave and the lion should be set free.
The Slave and The Lion Story
एक बार एक गुलाम था। उसका मालिक बहुत निर्दयी था। वह गुलाम से कठिन काम लेता था परन्तु उसे अच्छी तरह नहीं खिलाता था। गुलाम उससे इतना परेशान हो गया कि वह उसके घर से भाग गया। मालिक ने उसका पीछा किया। वह एक गुफा में छिप गया।
मालिक उसे नहीं पा सका और वह वापस लौट गया। गुफा में एक शेर रहता था। गुलाम इतना डर गया कि वह भाग नहीं सका। उसने अपनी आँखें बन्द कर लीं और बैठ गया।
परन्तु वह यह देख कर आश्चर्यचकित हो गया कि शेर ने उस पर आक्रमण नहीं किया। इसके बाद शेर ने पंजा बढ़ाया गुलाम ने देखा कि शेर के पंजे में काँटा है। उसने साहस कर शेर के पंजे से काँटा निकाल दिया। शेर ने कृतज्ञता महसूस की और वे मित्र बन गए।
कुछ दिनों बाद वह गुफा से बाहर आया और मालिक के नौकरों के द्वारा पकड़ा गया। उसे मालिक के पास लाया गया। उस देश के राजा ने उसे मृत्यु की सजा सुनाई और उसे भूखे शेर के सामने फैंकने की आज्ञा दी।
जब उसे पिंजरे में फैंका गया, भूखा शेर उस पर झपटा परन्तु एकदम रुक गया। उसने उसे कोई नुकसान नहीं पहुँचाया। शेर उसका हाथ चाटने लगा।
गुलाम ने अपने मित्र को पहचान लिया और उसे गले लगाया। राजा और प्रजा यह देखकर आश्चर्यचकित रह गये। गुलाम ने उनको बताया कि उसने किस प्रकार शेर की सहायता की थी। राजा ने आज्ञा दी कि शेर व गुलाम दोनों को मुक्त कर दिया जाए।
