Francis Bacon was a famous essay writer. He told us about the reading in the following dialogue:
“Reading maketh a full man, conference a ready man and writing an exact man”.
Although science has given us many things to gain knowledge yet the books are best means of getting knowledge of all kinds. Knowledge is an endless ocean. We know only a drop of it. So whenever we get time, we must read good books of famous writers. All good things are closed in the books.
Need of Reading
To gain knowledge, we have to read books. Books are closed in the book’s treasures of knowledge. If we want to learn about our rich past, we have to read the books. Without reading good books we cannot get proper knowledge. All conversation is based on books. A book reader can tell you more than others who do not touch books. Thus reading is necessary to acquire knowledge.
Pleasures of Reading
“Reading books is a pleasure A good book is the precious life blood of a master spirit, embalmed and treasured upon purpose to a life beyond life” said Bacon. The writers put their experiences and feelings in their books.
Literature is the mirror of society. It reflects the real and factual situation of society. We can know the past history, culture, and civilization only through good books. Thus the reading of book gives us not only enjoyment but also gives us the knowledge of many things.
Advantages of Reading
The future of a student depends on the books he reads. If he has the habit of reading books, he may get success in getting a good job of his liking. One can pass his spare time reading books. Books can make us doctors, engineers, I.A.S. and other highly qualified persons. There is no danger in reading books in our room. Bacon said, “I do not want any friend but I want books.” Reading books is the best habit of the passing of leisure time.
Books are the Best Friends
Books are the best friends. They never quarrel with us. They never turn back like our selfish friends. They are always a cheerful companion. They instruct and guide us in youth and nurse and accompany us in our old age. A man is known by the books he reads and the company he keeps. We should read good books.
“Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed and a few to be chewed and digested.” Bacon Reading a book is the best entertainment after the day’s work. It requires no physical labour, removes dullness, and makes the reader forget the worries of the present.
Conclusion
Taste for reading is the greatest and the most unfailing source of happiness in all circumstances. So we should search the immortal books. They not only increase our knowledge but also cheer our spirit. It is the finest pass time. We should try to avoid cheap and bad books.
I like reading good books. I love to keep them in my library. The idea of getting rid of them nearly breaks my heart. I am a lover of books.
